Problems: Fractured tooth, bridge, missing tooth, tooth decay and pain
Resolution:
Dental implants (and prevention of bone loss)

This patient came to the office with pain. Dr. Joe discovered she had fractured a tooth that was part of a conventional bridge.
Fractures, as well as decay, and endodontic failure requiring root canal treatment are not uncommon occurrences affecting teeth that serve as bridge supports.
Bridges should be checked thoroughly at exam appointments to look for early signs of failure.
Dental implants were the treatment of choice to replace the previously missing tooth and the fractured tooth.
The implants and the adjacent teeth received beautiful, new DaVinci porcelain crowns.
Our patient's new teeth look and feel like natural teeth and she is able to floss normally again.
In addition, the dental implants stop the bone loss that occurs when the natural tooth root is lost.

Problems: Missing teeth, bone loss, partial denture slipping
Resolution:
Dental implants, denture support (and prevention of bone loss)

The patient had been wearing a removable partial denture for many years.
Over time, the bone resorbed causing the appliance to gradually shift, thereby allowing his remaining teeth to shift and drift along with it.
To prevent the recurrence of this problem, two implants were placed in the area of the missing teeth to support the denture. This was a relatively simple and cost effective approach.
The implants transmit the stimulus of his chewing to the bone and thus stopped the progression of the bone loss.
In addition his denture is more secure and comfortable.

Problems: Poorly fitting dentures, bone loss, painful bite
Resolution:
Bar to cover implants, secure denture (and prevention of bone loss)

The gold bar is a simple, quick and very effective technique to secure a lower denture.
Because of the lack of a broad area of support, lower dentures are typically difficult to wear and the source of constant annoyance for denture wearers.
This patient had dentures that fit so poorly due to advanced bone loss that she could not consistantly close without searching for a comfortable bite.
In addition, she could not effectively chew her food and was self consious in any social setting.
We built a new upper denture and a new lower denture supported by implants. The patient is thrilled with the improvement in her chewing efficiency and her ability to smile with confidence.
As an added benefit, the dental implants will prevent the progression of bone loss that is so common in denture wearers.
